The Power of Enough

If you live in the Northeast, you might consider attending THE POWER OF ENOUGH, a conference on sufficiency from April 10-11 at MIT, produced by The Global Sufficiency Network. I’ve worked with them to craft a “sufficiency pledge” that links personal enoughness with service to the larger world and a sense of fairness. And I appreciate their partnership in considering my own core questions and teaching about How much is enough of anything? And how do we know? And what happens next – once we recognize we have enough? If you share that interest, also consider signing up for the next Freedom of Enough teleclass running from May 18 – June 15.

Here is the invitation I received from GSN:

I am pleased and excited to invite you to The Third Annual Global Sufficiency Summit: The Power of Enough on April 10 and 11, 2010 on the MIT campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Co-sponsored by The Sufficiency Foundation, The Global Sufficiency Network and sufficiency leaders, this year’s Summit is expanded to two full days. The program will consist of keynote addresses, panel discussions, and workshops by leaders in the development of sufficiency and sustainability paradigms, experiential workshops on sufficiency, and plenary sessions with visionaries such as:

€      Hazel Henderson, author of
Ethical Markets: Growing the Green Economy
€      Bill Reed of Integrative Design Collaborative
€      Ethan Nichtern of the Interdependence Project
€      Spencer Sherman, author of
The Cure for Money Madness
€      Sufficiency leaders from The GSS Executive Team, The Sufficiency Foundation, The Global Sufficiency Network, and Sufficiency Call Groups.

We are looking for dedicated volunteers to help make this year’s summit a success. Conference and meal fees will be waived for volunteers committing to two volunteer shifts (a total of eight hours), participating in a pre-summit conference call and arriving early on the morning of the summit. If interested, please contact jkearce@yahoo.com. <volunteer@reachingoutmba.org>

Please join us for this unique event, designed to profoundly alter the lives of all who participate. In the context of community, we will examine the possibility, power and joy of bringing sufficiency into our everyday lives with awareness and responsible action.

I look forward to being with you on April 10 and 11 as we expand our capacity as global citizens dedicated to sufficiency and sustainability for all.

With appreciation,
